Maharashtra is ‘Delaying’ the Disbursement of Minority Scholarship – Global Nation

The Movement for Peace and Justice, Maharashtra (MPJ), organised a press conference here to apprise the media regarding non-disbursement of Minority scholarship by the government of Maharashtra. This minority scholarship was launched for the students belonging to minority communities under the 15-point programme by the Prime Minister.

Addressing the media, Muhammad Siraj President of the MPJ said that, “the Directorate of Education, the coordinating body for minority scholarship, had received crores of rupees, to be disbursed among minority students in the state, but many of the selected students are yet to receive the benefits of the scholarships in the Maharashtra.”

Scholarships for thousands of the minority students in the state have not yet been disbursed, while a total amount of Rs. 173, 95, 94,219/- of the scholarship fund for the period from year 2009-10 to 2014-15 is lying unutilized  in the bank account of the concerned department, he added.
