Mumbai— In the state of Maharashtra, about four lakh students belonging to the minority communities were denied Pre-Matric Scholarship in the last academic year due to the technical hiccups. This was admitted in an RTI reply to the Maharashtra’s Movement for Peace & justice, a well-known public movement of the state. Mr Razaullah Khan, a teacher by profession and a social activist associated with the Movement for Peace & Justice, filed an RTI application for knowing the ground reality of implementation of this much publicized minority welfare scheme, which aims to provide financial help in continuing the education and a measure to check the dropout rate among the weaker sections of the society. On 21st September, the Hindustan Times and the Indian Express published a detailed report on the issue.
